I inherited an Ipad Pro with this new fancy supernova-nuclear-mega M1 chip.
I know there's the loupe deck crowd and people like other control surfaces... but what little research I've done shows very little control surface solution for iPad. Anyone have any they like or any recommendations?

2021.10.20 14:26 sharkbite0141 GUIDE: A Microsoft Windows Server OS Licensing Primer for Physical and Virtual Environments
Hi All! I've seen a number of posts over time asking for advice on how to license their environments with Windows Server. I thought it might be helpful to write up a a "primer" on Windows Server licensing for those who are newer to Microsoft Licensing in the sysadmin world. All of this information is available directly from Microsoft in their Licensing Briefs, which are an excellent resource, but I know they can be confusing for those not previously experienced with Microsoft Licensing and its nuances.
What follows is based on my experience over the past 16 years between working for a non-profit, a MSP that sold OEM, Retail, and Volume Licenses, eventually even became SPLA licensed to provide hosted services, an enterprise environment, that underwent official KPMG-run Microsoft Licensing Audit that held both multiple types of Volume Licenses (Open Value vs Open Business) and even an Enterprise Agreement (EA), and my current position that in an organization that holds an EA for all Microsoft licensing.
Now, I'm not an official Microsoft Licensing representative, so if you believe my information is incorrect, please let me know and I'll do my best to fix the post or clarify a point. Also, this isn't meant to suffice as a be-all-end-all for Microsoft OS licensing, more of a general beginner sysadmin's guide.
I'll break it down into 2 main sections:

Letter from the Imperial Office of the Zyan
Notes from Prime
Let me state, first and foremost, that it saddens me that I can't see you until the Terran borders reopen. Though I understand it from a human perspective, safety first, questions later. Sitting here from my desk, though, there is a different view.
First, the nobles declare you unfit to rule, unsound of shell they say. Then, they send you off on diplomatic missions far from me and our home. And now, this attack on Terran diro? Everything just seems to be conveniently out of my reach. Not only you but also these new Deathworlders.
Though sending you off has worked for the nobles. Promptly after you left, much to my disgust, they began insisting on beginning marriage procedures. Each tripping over the other to get me to marry one of their sons.
The shell-less bastards.
Don’t you worry at all, Father. None of these idiots can best me in combat nor even scratch the surface of my shell. This alone will hold them off for a few cycles. Hopefully, long enough for you to return and this Terran incident to be resolved.
The second matter I’d like to address is the shell-damned etiquette for these letters. I am the Prime. I make the rules.
Diplomat Ort, you have Imperial permission to refer to me as your Daughter in all capacities.
Those lords will find an invitation to a Granto Duel should they argue with me. And last I checked, I am the Prime.
To get to one of the matters at hand, these new Deathworlders, humans, seem to be stranger than you first let on Father. Perhaps, the hospital you are in doesn’t have the Intragalactic News Network yet.
They are small. Much smaller than you and I. I have heard a few of the nobles laugh under their breaths, muttering disbelief. I understand why you see them as children. They do have a similar size to our spawnlings.
In other news, the scientific community has seen fit to reclassify the Planet Diro, I apologize, Earth, as a Class 5 Deathworld. The discovery of a significant planetary axis, which causes those seasons you mentioned, had forced the redefining of the Deathworld scale.
Currently, they have placed Earth as the third-most dangerous Deathworld. I am glad that the humans provided you with a thermo-suit. Though, I fear their excessive kindness may lead to their downfall.
Not that I will standby and watch that happen. Their doctors saved you from what I hear to be a great shell injury. And though I don’t understand what overcame you to allow others into your shell-space, I will heed your advice and attempt to help them.
Do note, I am overly jealous of that human mother and son. You haven’t let me in your shell since I was a spawnling. We will speak more about this when you come home.
Now onto the discussion of the Terrans and their response to the attack. While the new human diplomat you met did mention that no one is going in nor out of Terran space, this has been misleading.
Only small military spacecraft are moving. Civilian and merchant movement is seemingly unchanged within their domain while having ceased outside. I do need confirmation from you as our sensors can only see so far.
Currently, human officers are probing for information from the galactic community. From what our investigation tells us, they have asked the Ruthol, Psyians, and us. I assume the others, that they didn’t ask, were those diplomats that fled the scene.
Since your report did not include the mention of Ruthol and Psyians, I urge you to investigate the matter. Our lack of information aside, by your advice, I initiated an investigation for the humans. I later gave the information we uncovered to them.
From what we could gather, the criminals were part of the AD society, presumably standing for Anti-Deathworlders. A group of diverse members stemming from mainly prey species; although, reports show a digitally-masked video of one member eating meat. Presumably, at least one carnivore is also within their ranks, which explains the severity of the attack.
The AD typically uses political backroads and underhand deals to force their agenda. This is the first case of an outright assault. As you have more experience with the AD, I also informed the humans of your knowledge and thus the potential help you could provide.
From our observations, their military seems to be lacking. Or at the very least, hidden incredibly well. We cannot find any craft larger than a luxury liner. Though, the weapons we have seen do cause a chill down the shell.
My military council informs me of electromagnetic railguns, tungsten-carbide rods, and magnet-fired projectiles. Also, I have been informed that individual officers carry both projectile-firing and pulse-firing equipment.
It is worth noting that my investigators also found rumors of a void breaker, although we have no idea what this alludes to. Please investigate.
Soon after my debriefing, human military officers came to see me. Strange, but I did allow it. Servants prepared my clothes and soon I sat on the throne while the nobles stood behind me. A show of unity to outsiders. Though, not much unity here to speak of.
The Terrans walked in and stood before me. Quite elegant given our low planetary gravity. Not saying I was impressed, but I can say it must take skill. Additionally, the individuals walked confidently in a way I have yet to see elsewhere. Not even from my nobles.
The nearest lordess whispered to me that the officers I was meeting were Lieutenant General Adams and Vice-Admiral Kleinseeker.
Adams did not have any significant markings on his attire besides his insignia. His attire was a shade of dark, hiding his age. And yes, I mean dark. Not of black, but of dark. My eyestalks cannot see what color that it was supposed to be. Meanwhile, Kleinseeker had seemingly too much color and far too many accolades especially for, what I was told to be, a young human.
The Vice-Admiral spoke to me first, “Greetings Prime. We have come to ask for your aid...”
But before he could continue, this alone was met with anger from the nobles behind me.
“How could you ask such a thing?!?”
“This is your problem, not ours. The intelligence was enough.”
I spoke in noble Granish to them quickly, “If any of you speak before your Prime speaks again, none of you will be able to sire another son.”
My shell stood mighty above the ground as I looked back to the Vice-Admiral, “Excuse them for their behavior. Seemingly, etiquette lessons are not only for children.”
“So it shall be Prime. Again, I ask for your aid.”
I stood up from my throne and walked down to where the two Terrans stood. I leaned in as best I could so that only they could hear me.
“You know of my diplomat still within your borders. He wishes to stay there,” I said. They nodded as if they knew where this was going. How adorable.
“And he urged me to help you as soon as he awoke from his hospital bed. Do you want help? I can guarantee you have me. But I cannot speak for those jesters behind us. They think you are weak. Care to prove them otherwise?”
I didn’t expect much from these military Terrans at the time. I assumed they would leave and come back with another small vessel similar to the one they traveled in to see me, what they called The Platinum. Soon, I would realize that I was mistaken.
Though, at the time, I stood straight up as I watched their faces change. The Vice-Admiral closed his eyes and exhaled a significant amount of air before looking at the Lieutenant General. Adams was smiling. His mouth contorted across his face. Not much like the smile, the humans gave you Father, but a smile only preys ever see.
I had, unknowingly, turned my nobles into prey for these humans. Political prey, but prey nonetheless.
I think I understand now why humans smile, Father. And I believe I like it.
The two humans quickly left the room as I turned around and walked towards my nobles. A few of them believed the humans to be rude for simply leaving.
“Don’t fret. I spoke to them. They will return shortly I assume.” I told the group.
“But my Prime, what did you tell them?” a lord asked.
“To prove themselves worthy.”
It was not long after I sat back down on the throne when one of the younger servants rushed to my side.
“Prime, Prime,” he said between breaths, “The humans are gathering here. The general believes they are attempting to attack us!”
The nobles frantically began yelling for their servants until I raised a claw. Silence deafened the room.
“No, they are here to show their worth. Give them a moment. And bring me the general.”
The silence was quickly met with the running steps of the servant and mumbles from the nobles. I shook my eyestalks. They never cease talking. Perhaps, I’ll draft a new law to enforce silence.
But before I could think about the political hassle that law would be, the general had come back guided by the servant.
“General Ganti, at your call Prime,” he spoke with fervor, “I believe the humans to be attacking after they left your audience.”
I stood up, “Now, now Ganti. These are our new friends. Here to show us their toys, I presume.”
General Ganti shuffled side-to-side. “Toys may be an understatement, my Prime.”
I smiled at my General, causing him to shuffle even faster.
A hologram began to form. It began lowering from the ceiling and rising from the ground until it met in the air. It showed a massive spacecraft, dwarfing The Platinum by several hundred magnitudes.
“And what exactly is this General?” a noble behind me asked. I’ll have to reprimand them all later for his speaking out of turn.
“Well, sire, we believe this to be the Terran main fleet.”
General Ganti clawed a few markings on the holographic console and a scanned interior of the metal behemoth came into view.
Within the structure, was approximately a thousand more vessels the size of The Platinum. All sitting there, as endless as the rows of an ancient Granto’s teeth.
A few of the nobles behind me collapsed. Then, the humans walked in again. The Vice-Admiral glimpsed at the hologram and then spoke to me.
“As you can see, Prime, we are ready. For much more than a war.” Kleinseeker spoke, but it was Adams who was grinning.
I pointed at General Ganti, who understood my thoughts sometimes better than I did. He spoke for me,
“As large as this is, you will be facing several different enemies. The AD is not a small threat. We cannot make up for the difference in volume. We can join you if you increase your main fleet.”
I thanked Ganti in Granish before looking back at the humans.
“As my military adviser told you. We can help, but you need to build more of these. This is too small for the main fleet.”
At this point, I could see confusion in the Terrans’ behavior as they lost their smiles. They spoke to each other in a language the translator couldn’t ascertain and translate. A few moments passed with silence until a device the Vice-Admiral had beeped a few times. Adams began to smile again.
Then, twelve more of the behemoths dropped out from sublight space.
About half of the nobles fell to the ground, and my shell began to cover me. I’m starting to like these humans.
And again, twelve more appeared, and this time General Ganti fainted.
Vice-Admiral Kleinseeker looked up at me, my shell covering nearly all my view as another twelve appeared. Then he spoke,
“Prime, this is not the main fleet.”
After sending my colleague, Ganti, and most of the nobles to the infirmary, I counted a total of 49 behemoths of Terran engineering standing directly above my planet.
I suggested we partake in an intermission.
The humans nodded and left. I proceeded to open my shell, fighting against my primal urge, and shuffled to my bed chambers quickly.
I was bathed and cleaned by my servants and provided with my military garb. I feel so much more comfortable in my Granto uniform Father. Life feels dull when I don’t wear it.
Not that life will ever be dull again. These humans do know how to put on a show.
Half a rotation went by before we all reconvened. I stood at the head of the table and the humans at the other end. General Ganti was at my left while the seat to my right remained empty. The nobility filled the remaining seats.
I gave a few moments for suspense before I began to speak, “Terrans, what is your goal here? And be frank. Drop the diplomacy.”
My nobles seemed to shiver in their seats since, for the first time, it was Lieutenant General Adams who stood to speak. He was not the diplomatic type. Adams cleared his throat and in a deep, rasping tone spoke,
“Search and destroy.”
He sat down immediately having said all that was needed to say. The Vice-Admiral also remained seated. There was nothing to add, even from a diplomatic standpoint.
The nobles looked at me while General Ganti was transfixed on the humans. I rose a claw,
“All in favor?”
Ganti was the first, “Aye.”
Next came the majority of the female nobility, the more bloodthirsty sector, “Aye,” they spoke in unison.
Three men in a row, “Nay.”
By now, I knew we had half the vote, and a few dissidents made no difference.
The remaining men, “Aye.”
I lowered my claw and peered into the eyes of the Terrans.
“We will join you,” I spoke briefly.
The Vice-Admiral stood and replied, “We thank you for your aid to come. It would be remiss of me to mention, as your investigators have no doubt found out by now, that we will ask the same of the Ruthol and the Psyians.”
I smiled at the Vice-Admiral, and he smiled back, “I would expect nothing less.”
While we both stood, Adams stood up again to quickly add, “Once we have decided to act, it will be swift. Until then, we will only need aid in investigating the AD.”
“And then what will you do, Lieutenant General?” I asked.
Father, I believe you were right.
These humans, these deathworlders, they are hunters. Of a persistent sort. They will hunt you at the edge of your vision until your eyestalks tire. Follow you wherever you go until your legs give out. Until you have nowhere to turn to but their open maws.
And again, I believe you to be right.
Because though Adams was smiling, his eyes seemed to swell with tears.
I will aid them. And I hope to one day join them in the hunt for the Great Granto.
Until then, please investigate the Ruthol and Psyians diplomats. Tell the human diplomat about our joint venture for AD scum.
I await your ensuing correspondence.
Peace be with you, Father.
I will deny that I had written this should you tell anyone.
I love you too, dad.
